A dental veneer is a thin piece of material(usually, porcelain, modified
porcelain.composite or precious metal) bonded to the anterior
surface of a tooth in order to change its structure and appearance.
Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, for
example composite can be applied to a tooth in one single
visit to the surgery, is very conservative meaning that very
little or no tooth has to be removed and can easily be added
to if a repair is required. Porcelain however in contrast
requires usually two visits to the surgery, more tooth preparation
and cannot be as easily repaired but the final result being
generally longer lasting and having greater aesthetic appeal.
In all areas of dentistry, especially aesthetic dentistry
we want predictable results with a degree of longevity. Therefore
we suggest that anyone wishing to improve and maintain the
appearance of their smile should contact us for a consultation
in order to make an informed decission as to what may be achieved.
